Taking care of your skin
Feet and legs should be covered when walking, crawling and swimming to prevent scrapes from rugs, rough ground, gravel, sidewalk cement, patio stones and pool sides. Socks, tights or water shoes will help to protect the skin.
Wear socks inside out to prevent the seam from causing pressure, which can result in sores.
Purchase shoes large enough to prevent pressure on the top of the foot, and make sure the seam at the heel does not rub and cause blisters.
If you are making pants from a pattern, add 3 inches to the back and decrease 3 inches from the front. This will better fit someone who is usually in the seated position.
Look for pants without back pockets, as these can cause pressure sores.
